Hello there... My name is Gina...

I have been doing henna since August of 2007.  I wanted to bring an
henna, it would be a perfect thing to give.  I have always been able to
draw and figured it would be easy.

I picked up a sharpie and found my first victim!
I loved the way it looked.  I started practicing
on myself.   Still using sharpie, I  managed to
pretty much cover myself limb to limb with
henna designs.

Not knowing where to actually buy henna, I
started researching.  I finally found a place
in Beaverton that sold premixed henna.   I
bought a couple of them and started
tattooing as many of my friends that I could
                                      get my hands on to
                                    practice.  I also started
                                    studying like crazy.
                                    I poured through books
                                    and images online to get
                                    tattoo ideas.

After several months of tattooing everyone in sight, I started getting calls
from people who were wondering if I would do a special henna for them.
Most of them insisted on paying me for my time.  Eventually I had the
opportunity to run a small henna booth during the "First Thursday" art
gallery walk that happens once a month in the Pearl District here in
Portland.

After working most of my life in either a restaurant setting, or a call
center I knew I wanted something more for myself.  I have owned and
operated a restaurant here in Portland so I know how much I enjoy
running my own business.  That and realizing how much people liked my
art and henna style and how much joy doing henna brings me, I decided
to quit my job and do henna full time.

I quickly learned how to mix my own henna to make sure my clients
always got a rich dark beautiful stain.

Here is a picture of my henna
8 days after application.  This tattoo
is now 18 days old and after several
days of scrubbing is just finally faded
                                             mostly away.

So that's it.  Right now I am focusing on increasing my already broad
range of henna designs, getting new clients, making friends, and
converting my garage into a fun henna studio to do tattoos and take
pictures in.

Hopefully within the next year or 2, I would like to make a trip to India to
study henna and take pictures!

Thanks for your interest in my henna.
Bye for now!
